About LED Light Therapy

The Mindfulness Center’s In Light Wellness Systems™ provides a dynamic and user-friendly polychromatic light therapy system.

LED polychromatic light therapy involves the use of light emitting diodes (LED) delivering red, blue, and infrared light to the skin. These three (3) wavelengths stimulate beneficial innate cellular responses increasing circulation and activating the release of nitric oxide. NASA studies demonstrate cells exposed to LED light therapy exhibit a 150% increase in cellular metabolism suggesting enhanced cellular repair and vitality. Medical researchers across the globe are currently investigating a wide array of physiologic benefits produced by LED light therapy.

Risks and Side Effects

Light therapy generally is safe, and you may use it together with other treatments. If symptoms do not improve, or if they become worse, it is important to follow up with your doctor or therapist. If side effects occur, they are usually mild and short lasting. They may include: Eyestrain, Headache, Nausea , Irritability or agitation, Mania, euphoria, hyperactivity or agitation associated with bipolar disorder.

When side effects do occur, they may go away on their own within a few days of starting light therapy. You can relieve these side effects by decreasing the amount of time you spend under the light. Talk to your doctor for additional advice, or if side effects don't go away or get worse. Always tell your doctor if you are using an alternative therapy or if you are thinking about combining an alternative therapy with your conventional medical treatment.
