Join health expert and neuroscientist Dr. Deborah Norris in this workshop on recovery from pain. In this seminar, Dr. Norris explains the science behind the practices for relieving chronic pain and and the revolutionary changes in the standard of health care for the treatment of pain, Yoga, meditation and related mind-body practices are now advocated by major health institutions such as the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, MedStar and Harvard Medical School for the treatment of chronic pain. In this program you will learn the evidence-basis for these changes in medical care.
Having herself recovered from fibromyalgia and chronic pain, Dr. Norris has also conducted and published research at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center and at Children’s National Hospital on the treatment of chronic pain. Author of In the Flow, Bridging the Science and Practice of Mindfulness, Dr. Norris has published numerous articles and chapters on self-care mind-body practices to relieve pain. Past professor and Director of the Psychobiology of Healing program at American University, Dr. Norris shares a wealth of information on mind-body therapies for pain relief.
This program bridges the science and practice of mind-body therapies, drawing from the fields of yoga, nutrition, exercise physiology, neuroscience, psychology and more, to explain the power of the mind and personal practice to find relief from chronic pain.
