Acupuncture

30 MINUTES $65 60 MINUTES $110 •90 MINUTES $165

Traditional Acupuncture is a powerful system of medicine designed to address patients on a body, mind and spirit level. Practiced for over 3000 years in China, the benefits of acupuncture treatment are now clearly recognized and well documented in western medical journals and in medical institutions across the United States.

Symptoms are viewed in relationship to the totality of a person in order to explore the root cause of an illness or imbalance. Many acupuncture patients report a resolution or lessening of their primary symptoms. Perhaps the most profound result of treatment is a common experience of a greater sense of well being, clarity and ease in life.

During your first visit, which can take up to 2 hours, the acupuncturist will gather information about your past and present health conditions and life circumstances. Each treatment is then designed uniquely to address imbalances as they are specifically experienced by each individual.

Subsequent visits will last about an hour. The number of treatments required varies according to individual needs.

Physical pain is one of the blocks we may face,” Jim says. “I like to work in partnership with people to remove these blocks and to find balance and optimal performance in all areas of our lives. I have found acupuncture to be a gentle and powerful way to bring about healing and growth.

William John AllowaY, DPT, DC Doctor of Chiropractic and Doctor of Physical Therapy with specialties in electronic acupuncture, nutrition, herbalism, homeopathy, aromatherapy, physical rehabilitation, and spiritual counseling. Graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 1981, licensed in Maryland in 1981, and in constant private practice since 1981.    Advanced Physical Therapy equipment used by Dr. John Alloway includes a low level medical laser that has received 17 FDA Market Clearances based upon double-blind, randomized, multi-site placebo controlled clinical trials. According to Dr. Norman Doidge, MD in his 2015 book on light therapy, laser light is effective in treating: Alzheimers, Angiogenesis, Autoimmune diseases, Bone Repair, Brain Injury/ Concussion, Burns, Cancer, Cardiac Disease, Circulation Improvement, Degenerative Osteoarthritis, Depression, Diabetic Ulcers, Eczema, Herniated Discs, Herpes, Immune System, Migraines, Neurological Problems, Nerve Injuries, Psoriasis, Psychological Problems, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Scar Tissue and Post surgical adhesions, Shingles, Stroke, Tinnitus, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Wound Healing. Our bodies are filled with numerous light-sensitive chemical switches and amplifiers, meaning that light can turn on chemical reactions within living organisms. The low level light from these FDA-approved lasers gives off little or no heat. They work by helping sick cells to energize and heal themselves. Lasers decrease the stress on tissues caused by free radicals, preferentially affecting damaged cells not normal cells. Lasers increase cellular regeneration of damaged cells through the cell's own metabolism, the mitochondria and the synthesis of ATP (adenosine triphosphate which is the fuel of cell metabolism). Laser light can relieve chronic inflammation, swelling and pain caused by the build up of free radicals associated with diet and exposure to chemical toxins. Lasers also increase cellular communication within the nervous system, affecting phospholipid cell membranes, acupuncture meridians, and the integrin system. Laser light releases serotonin and affects cerebro-spinal fluid to carry photons emitted by lasers into the brain to improve the function of brain cells. Lasers applied to both peripheral nerves and cranial nerves stop degeneration and start regeneration to help damaged nerve tissue. A pioneer in light therapy, Dr. Alloway has been studying and using light therapy for over 20 years.

Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation in which you experience heightened suggestibility. Hypnosis can be used to promote physical or emotional health. While in a deep state of relaxation, you are offered suggestions tailored to your specific needs. Your unconscious mind can then transmit these thoughts and images throughout your mind and body, influencing them in ways that seem impossible in ordinary states of consciousness. Hypnotherapy is increasingly being used in mainstream medicine, thanks to mounting evidence that it works, as well as research showing how the human brain responds to hypnosis. Research has shown that hypnosis is effective in treating a host of disorders, including gastro-intestinal disorders, skin conditions, pain, Attention-Deficit disorder, cancer, allergies, anxiety and phobias, weight control, smoking cessation and substance use. We offer hypnotherapy as an element of our integrative approach to finding the healing capacity of your own mind-body.

Medical Qigong

60 MINUTES $110 • 90 MINUTES $150

Medical Qigong Therapy (MQT) originated 5,000 years ago and was the first of the four branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), predating Acupressure, Acupuncture and Herbalism. MQT is a form of healing energy therapy that incorporates the diagnostic and energetic balancing principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with the energy sensing and intuitive healing abilities of the Medical Qigong Therapist to boost the body's immune function, reduce stress levels and allow healing to occur in a totally non-invasive manner.

The client lies on a table while remaining fully clothed and, with closed eyes, gently follows the flow of energy, sensations or thoughts that occurs during the session. The Medical Qigong Therapist works around established TCM protocols to achieve energetic balance within the body by purging stagnant energy, filling with new universal energy and regulating all the energy throughout the body. The client is then given Medical Qigong exercises or meditations to practice at home. Generally the client feels a profound sense of calm after a treatment. For more information about Medical Qigong Therapy visit www.medicalqigong.org.

Reiki

Reiki means "Universal Energy". It is a natural and safe method that uses a light touch to channel universal energy to a patient's energy body. The purpose is to promote relaxation and stress reduction, restore balance, eliminate blockages, support the immune system, and foster all around healing and well-being. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit.

During the session, a very light touch will be used and the hands will be held in certain positions on prescribed areas of the body, or just above the body. You may feel warmth or tingling or just feel very relaxed while receiving Reiki. Sometimes a series of sessions is suggested in order to effectively address your goal or health concern.

"Stress is a condition or feeling experienced when a person perceives that demands exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to mobilize." ~ Richard Lazarus

Helpful in treating anxiety and other stress-related disorders, you will learn stress management techniques, relieve tension, and gain a feeling of control over the causes of stress. Yoga Therapy

90 minutes $150

Yoga is inherently therapeutic.

Whereas conventional medicine looks at health problems in an isolated systemic way, Integrative Yoga Therapeutics works with an understanding of the living system and it's relationships, seeing the body as an integrated fluid organism. The therapeutic application of yoga combines yoga asana, breathwork, Eastern and Western movement disciplines and meditation to access the subtle levels of our being. Hands on adjustments are part of this process. Each session is tailored specifically for the individual and will address the person as they are, given their strengths and current constraints. This approach to Yoga as Therapy works with all abilities, all ages, all levels of experience and any health condition or medical concern.
