This 8-hour continuing education workshop for is primarily didactic, introducing both scientific method, and research findings on the clinical outcomes of meditation, yoga and related mind-body practices. Research outcomes and theoretical frameworks suggesting both mechanisms of action and potential active ingredients of the practices are explored.

Deborah Norris, Ph.D. – Founder of The Mindfulness Center™, based in Washington, D.C., & author of In the Flow: Bridging the Science and Practice of Mindfulness, and Editor-in-Chief of MindBodyJournal.com. Dr Norris is Psychologist-in-Residence and Director of the Psychobiology of Healing Program at American University, and past professor at Georgetown University Medical School.

In this seminar, Dr. Deborah Norris will lead you on an exploration of the scientific evidence-basis behind the clinical applications of mind-body practices. Dr. Norris reviews the mechanisms of action, including neurological, biochemical, energetic, and other basis for the therapeutic potential of mind-body practices.
